West Cowes is the world renowned location of Cowes Week, the annual yachting event in August, as well as Cowes Regatta. Cowes town has an English regatta feel and a mix of Victorian and contemporary properties, and a long pedestrianised high street. The marina is just off the High Street, and a mix of boat building yards and industrial sites including an historic hammer head crane can be found here. There is a pebbled seafront and esplanade and long sea walk overlooking the Solent to Southampton. Red Jet passenger ferries leave from Cowes to Southampton.
